Rebel Dame of the Month...Jenna Syde
Posted by: Tony in MyBlog

Welcome back to yours and our favorite feature. The Rebel Dame of the Month! We missed last month due to our busy “touring schedule”, however, our offering this month is well worth the wait. She models, she sings, she sculpts, she dances, ah hell she just ROCKS!!! Folks, feast your eyes on November’s Rebel Dame…..
Jenna Syde

The first time we met Jenna was at one of our Rebel Radio Show podcast tapings we did over the summer and we found her to be kindred rock n roll spirit. Her personality is magnetic, her looks are exotic and her attitude is bad ass rocker! You may remember her as our Runner-Up from the Anniversary Rebel Dame Contest where she gave Lu a run for her money. Jenna was born into a rock n roll life. Growing up she was surrounded by musicians such as Danny B. Harvey, who were teaching her to play guitar and piano at a tender age, like she was hand crafted into the woman she is today. She’s a smart and sassy woman who commands your attention on stage or off.

Jenna Syde oozes creativity in just about every sense of the word; she’s creative musically, vocally, artistically, and who knows what other hidden talents she may have. Ok, that sounded dirty….*evil grin*…moving right along now. Jenna has been in a few bands over her musical career and now fronts Jenna Syde and the Watchers, out of Los Angeles, California who are bringing back punk rock n roll to it’s knees! How about I stop monopolizing your attention and let you get up close and personal with the lovely Miss Jenna Syde……enjoy!

Jenna Syde and The Watchers
Q&A
RMTV: Give us the quick and dirty story of how you got your start in music.
Jenna: dad was an early rock a billy punk and mom was a young groupie ( sorry mama ) Nuff said I grew up in the school of rock. Danny B. was I a band with my pops back in the day and later on an uncle and mentor to me. Grams and gramps sang country harmonies and had a band of their own while I was growing up and even play and sing together to this day. I started singing soon as I could talk, playing piano at 8 guitar at 13 started my first band at 14 and have been playin the clubs of L.A. Ever since

RMTV: Were you always sexy statuesque Amazonian rock n roll goddess or where you a total geekazoid growing up?
Jenna: both actually. Dad was blessed to have a daughter with a body by 10 but while I was playing guitar I was also collecting costumes and comics. Still do.
RMTV: You are now fronting Jenna Syde and the Watchers, where does the band draw inspiration from to crank out the killer tunes you’re turning out?
Jenna: Well my other bands have usually been more emotive and dark. I wanted Jenna Syde & the Watchers to be the exact opposite. Most of the JSTW tunes derive from my excellent adventures in dark seedy bars and over indulgences in the really good bad stuff. I write half the stuff myself and bring it to the band to make it sound better and the other half with my right hand man Jason Dread “Spaghetti” also of Pottymouth. He always gives it the harder edge I'm looking for. And gives it real good! LOL
RMTV: Jenna, you have amazing talent as a singer, your stunningly gorgeous, is there any other hidden talents we don’t know about?
Jenna: Well first off THANK YOU! I'm Flattered! And this kinda harks back to the nerdy thingy. I make crafty crap and I'm pretty damn good at it. I sew, sculpt, paint and design. For instance my favorite tweeter projects are my miniature clay scupltures. The one I sent you a pic of I'd my Danzig Chicken. I call it "Mischick" or "Bock Bock Bock My Darlin"
Ya I'm a DORK!

RMTV: Ok, for our amusement and information, give us the best and worst pick up attempt you’ve ever gotten. GO
Jenna:
Best Guy: your beautiful and confident and old like to buy you a drink
Me: sounds good I'm Jenna Worst
Jenna: Guy : hey.. Your hot.. I'm in a band
RMTV: Where do you get some of those outrageously super rad outfits you wear on stage and off?
Jenna: I make em. You will never be caught in the same outfit as some one else if you make em.
RMTV: Ever been in a bar room brawl? If so, puh-lease tell us about it!
Jenna: been in a few. But here is a good one. Years ago while I was singing in my old band RUE I had a show at a place called the Chicago bar and we were playing with another band called 40 cycle hum that at the time had my buddy Rocky George for ST playing with them. Well that night their singer just so happened to be drunk and pissed off that they had no crowd and those that were there we're watching the dodger game. Anyways as we were loading on stage he just so happened to kick my drummers set as he was bringing his gear on stage and said "hey watch it ass". I didn't find out about this until after the set and I'm very protective of my boys. So when I find out I go up to him and ask, "Hey man what’s your deal. Why did you kick my drummers set?”
He slurs,"You know what your band sucks. Your drummer is shit, your bassist sucks and your guitarist is a pussy but you... Your okay cuz you’re hot...”
I proceeded to clench my fist and prep to punch when my manager grabbed my hand, stopped me and brought me to the other side of the bar. She said,” Jenna he's drunk and an ass and not worth your time. Then he yelled, "But your a bitch," I jumped over the bar and immediately started in on his face. My dad ( who is blind ) broke his beer bottle open and screamed,” where the hell is the bastard that called my daughter a bitch!"
Long story short.... My dad and I were both carried out of the bar kickin and screaming and my boyfriend at the time sped us home as the cops showed up.
My underage brother Krusty Dusty Pug of The Pug Fuglys happened to stay behind though and ended up breaking that guy’s face in two and whipping his blood all over the walls out side of the bar. And he didn't get caught for that either. So ya the family that fights together runs from the cops together.

RMTV: How do you walk the line as a female musician between being just some hot chick screaming on a mic and being having actual talent for performing?
Jenna: when it all comes down to It it's really what's on the inside that counts. People will always look at me and automatically "eh she's hot, but can she play?" When my mouth opens theirs shuts! I'm a well versed and experienced musician with a versatile 5 octave range who can read and write music and to top it all off I'm most confident on stage I don't have to act up there I just go and they see and hear it.
RMTV: Let’s play Marry-Fuck-Kill, ready? Who would you marry, who would you fuck and who would you kill? Doyle from the Misfits…with a small penis, Iggy Pop….today, Snoop Dogg with some dank weed. GO!
Jenna: Marry Iggy cuz he will die first and I'll at least try to carry on his rock legend and not make stupid commercial decision to taint his name after death. Fuck Doyle he's tall, built, can fucking play his ass off (I’m a fan) and I ain't a hallway so I'm sure size won't matter. And kill Snoop and gank his dope yo!
RMTV: Please share with us your greatest Hollywood adventure. The short-short version.
Jenna: Drinking with Danny B., Slim Jim and Lemmy at the 3 Clubs after my show at the Cat Club and then trying to drive my drunken pill poppin ass back home to long beach at 4 in the morning. Lemmy is the only man I have met yet that can drink me under the table and driving home that night was like playing a video game I almost lost. Some how I ended up in Whittier or some place out there. Again escaping the cops.
