We apologize for the delay for this month’s featured Rebel Dame, how dare we hold out on your favorite feature on our site. Well, month there’s no April Foolishness when it comes to the lovely gal we met back in February at the Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion. Say hello to the 6th Annual Rockabilly Reunion Miss Rockabilly Pageant 2013 contest winner Miss JC Nova!

We met her at the Chris Gomez Photography booth, and it was her personality that caught our attention immediately. Talk about a little spitfire. JC told us how this was her first pageant and how she made the trip out from Flagstaff on a whim, by herself. So she had the personality, the looks and the guts to be a Rebel Dame. She sealed the deal for our vote during the 30 second pose off with Chris Gomez, and me assisting, ahem. The gals would come out one at a time and pose for the camera and the cheering fans surrounding the cars. The contestants were all great in their own way, but when JC stepped out she worked the crowd and commanded their attention. She interacted with the audience and just had the most fun I’ve ever seen anyone person have. While posing on one of the cars, JC slid from the hood to the fender, and boy did she did it gracefully, all the while laughing and smiling. How can you not love that attitude and energy? We are proud to welcome JC to the Rebel Music Family.

So here you have the young college student, who one her first pageant on her first try and is just enjoying doing something she loves. In her own words.

Q & A

RMTV: We met you at the Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion in February. How and why did you end up out there?

JC: I started getting into Rockabilly events a little less than a year ago. Almost everyone I met had mentioned Rockabilly Reunion at some point in time. This was my first big contest, so I went all out. I thought it would be a great chance to meet people and get deeper into the Rockabilly scene in Arizona. I had no idea it would lead to so much.

RMTV: You were crowned the Miss Rockabilly 2013 at the Rockabilly Reunion. Give us the play by play of what you were thinking and feeling as they announced you as the winner…

JC: When they announced the top 12, I was the last name called. I planned and practiced a ton before the event because I was excited, but I never thought I would actually win. While KandyK was on stage announcing announcing 3rd, 2nd, and Miss Psychobilly, I was just thinking how crazy it was that I was on stage with super successful models and established pinups. I didn’t think I had a chance, so when my name was called I freaked out. I think there are some pretty funny shots of my face from those few seconds, lol.

RMTV: Seems like you’ve been on a rollercoaster ride since we met you, what’s been going on? Who are you working with? Share the highlights.

JC: Havasu was such a game-changer for me! All of a sudden, I had all these opportunities I didn’t even know existed. It was crazy to me when I started getting contacted after the event. I still feel like I’m a little girl playing pretend, so it’s been bizarre for me to see people want to work with me. Since Havasu I’ve been out to LA, Phoenix, and Vegas twice. I’ve shot with Chris Gomez, Mannon Pictures, Carlos Toledo Photography, Edson Carlos, and Kat Attack Photography. I also had the opportunity to work with this amazing artist, El Vuaquero Muerto, on a Catrina doll project. I also got to walk for two fabulous clothing companies in Viva’s annual fashion show. It’s incredible to be working with such talented and successful people.

RMTV: You’re a free spirit, an adventurer, what else should we know about you?

JC: I’m just along for the ride. I don’t really know where my place in the world is quite yet, but damn I’m having fun exploring.

RMTV: Who or what inspires you?

JC: I’m very inspired by creation. I like the process of starting from components and building something. When you do it yourself, everything is intentional and represents a decision or idea of your own, and the end result is so satisfying. I love food, so cooking from scratch and cake decorating are ways were I get to start from nothing. I’m in the process of writing a cookbook. I’ve also dabbled with sewing, soap making, gardening, knitting, furniture refinishing and mehndi. People that create are so interesting. I get so much out of seeing other’s work regardless of the medium. Listening to Lisa Marie of Switchblade Stiletto talk about quitting a job to start her own clothing company was so inspiring to me.

RMTV: If you can be a fruit, what fruit would you be and why?

JC: Banana. My name rhymes with it, so I’ve heard that my whole life.

RMTV: It’s our understanding that you are currently attending college. We’ve been known to be fond of a woman with some smarts. What are you studying and where would you like that to take you?

JC: I’m at Northern Arizona University studying Finance and Accounting. Once I have my degree I’ll always have that security, and be able to focus on what I want to do or experience in my free time. I’m hoping to live in a variety of major cities. I want to see things, and live them.

RMTV: What is one thing you would like to accomplish this year?

JC: I just want to stay on top of school and continue learning about the world. The two are so different, because a textbook is never going to tell me what a shrimp taco from the fish market in Mexico tastes like, or how crazy navigating LA in traffic can be.

RMTV: Congratulations again on winning the title of Miss Rockabilly 2013, here’s your chance to plug, promote, throw a shout out or two, stage is yours….go:

JC:Thank you so super mega much too: Chris Gomez, KandyK, El Vuaquero Muerto, Loretta Vampz, Edson Carlos, Mannon Pictures, Rabid Magazine, Kathleen Raye, Dottie Vee & Heads Will Roll Salon, Morgan Panter, Switchblade Stiletto, Anti-Human Media

As we penetrate the month of March and she takes us into her bosom, we get the opportunity to introduce you to a new addition to the Rebel Music Family. Our featured Rebel Dame this month was crowned Miss Psychobilly at the 5th Annual Rockabilly Reunion last month and without further ado, say hello to the sizzling stunner known as…. Červená Fox

Červená is the second Brit we’ve featured in a row, following our Rebel Dame last month Kandy K. We had the pleasure of meeting Červená Fox for the first time in Havasu and we knew right away she was Rebel Dame material. She impressed us with her personality, British charm, wit and her presence. You couldn’t walk within a mile of her without noticing her. The perfect combination of confidence and humility, as she was approached regularly by friends and fans throughout the day, but she was never unavailable for a quick photo op. Červená travels the globe pursing a career in show business, has been published in countless alternative, tattoo and culture magazines around the world. Talk about someone with star power! Not only does she look pretty, but she’s a talented burlesque performer, appearing on stages all over Europe, her burlesque is bloody, gory and sexy as all hell! We wish Červená all the luck in the world and hope she doesn’t forget us at RMTV when she becomes the next international superstar!

Q&A

RMTV: Miss Cervena, you are a world traveler, tattooed, published model and all around badass. Anything you haven’t done yet with your life that you have your sights on? Do tell…

Červená: Oh yes there is so much more a person can do in their life! My goal with modeling is to get on TV programs, cover of inked magazine & other high end deals to get my ass out there to the world! It would be dream come true if I become as known as Sabina Kelly! On my personal side, I just want to start a family n meet the man of my dreams. :]

RMTV: During the Rockabilly Reunion Pin Up Pageant, the host Kandy K (Rebel Dame, Feb.’13) made a comment about getting you a “yanky hubby” so you can move to the States. Are you really looking for a reason to move to the US, and if so, why?

Červená: Hahaha! Oh my god, she made me laugh so much by saying that! I am looking yes, but I am a very picky girl n won’t settle for ‘ok’! A guy in the US would be a plus as I love that country! The UK is jus so glum!

RMTV: Give us the gory details of your first tattoo experience and were you a crier and a bleeder?

Červená: I was 16 when I first got my swallows on my hips. To be honest I remember it being really irritating on the soft part but easy on the bone! I didn’t bleed or moan one bit!!! Best £60 I ever spent. ;D I love them so much, even to this day!

RMTV: Looking back on what you have accomplished thus far in your young life, what are you most proud of and why?

Červená: I’m proud in how much I’ve learnt about myself and what I’ve gone through to get here. I ran away from home when I was 16 n never went back. I had to deal with working in call centers n living on 16p noodles for nearly a year but hey, everyone goes through shit ones in their life! I’m jus proud I stood my ground, Grew up fast n got on with my life! I took on modeling when I was 17 as I got bullied for being ugly n different in school. Which I really was, but I guess some people don’t bloom until their late teens! It was jus to get my confidence up and in hope that the bully’s saw my pictures and felt guilty. I had no idea it would become my job!

RMTV: Since you appear to be in the market for a “yanky hubby” what qualities are attractive to you in a significant other?

Červená: I like a guy who is very much like myself. I don’t just want a husband. I want a best friend I can spend my whole life with! Qualities in a guy involve someone who can make me laugh, be a kid at times but serious when needed. Someone who enjoys going around the world with me n would support me in life no matter what I choose to do. :]

RMTV: We at Rebel Music TV are all about music, art and culture. What music do you put on when you want to party, when you want to get over a break up, and when you want to smoke a joint and just relax? (Joint is optional)

Červená: To be honest I’m a lover of all music! So depending on my mood, I can put death metal on, pop punk, dubstep ANYTHING! Tho right at this moment, it’s The Prodigy! Break up music for me is my party music, you shouldn’t be sad about anything, everything happens for a reason. Relaxing music for me is Alex Clare or The Elijha.

RMTV: Surely, you must come across your share of douche bags trying to give you their best pick up line. Have any greatest hits, or misses, you can share?

Červená: ohh yes, the worst I’ve heard is ‘Baby, somebody better call God, cuz he’s missing an angel!’ which I jus gave him a bad look and walked away….but the really really REALLY bad ones work on me as I laugh at them and say ‘really? Is that what u use to chat up women’ like ‘hey, I’m a gardener….want me to trim your brush for you?’

RMTV: If this modeling career didn’t take off, hypothetically speaking, what else would you want to be doing with yourself?

Červená: I would probably gone on with my Jewellery business and expanded it to a shop. I use to make jewellery and hair pieces for rockabilly girls and Pin ups!

RMTV: Again, we want to congratulate you for winning the title of Miss Psychobilly at the Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion. Any last words of wisdom or shameless plugs you want to get out to the people? Here’s your chance…GO!

Červená: Thank you!!!!! To be honest I had no idea I would have even got first so I jus want to say a huge thanks to the judges for voting for me and making my trip the best one yet!!! And I fully recommend every girl to keep trying as I believe every girl deserves to be a queen. <3

It’s been a while since we last convened to introduce you to an all new Rebel Dame, and in the spirit of the Valentines Day this month, we wanted to give you all something sinfully sweet to make amends. Please welcome to the Rebel Music Family, our first Rebel Dame of 2013, meet the ravishing KANDY K!

The lovely Kandy K is the latest import from England, and she is no Iron Lady. Although we have no doubt she could bring Parliament to their knees with a wink and a smile. Kandy is a mother, wife, internationally published model, sex bomb, and you can also add MC to that list, as she’s been seen on stages hosting pin up pageants and shows. Where does she get the energy?! We first met her last year at the Rockabilly Reunion in Lake Havasu, Arizona, and she couldn’t have made a better first impression, we liked her style and energy right away. So it is with great pleasure that we welcome Kandy into the Family.

You can catch Kandy at the upcoming Rockabilly Reunion 2013 in Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Q&A

RMTV: You are originally from the UK, what brought you out to the States? What do you miss most about the UK that you don’t find out here?

I am from the UK and moved out to the States about 5 years ago, I started talking to my husband on Myspace actually! And we arranged to meet up while i was on vacation in LA, I ended up falling in love and staying for 3 months, the most my travel visa would allow! After a long distance relationship back and forth we eloped to las Vegas and got married without telling anyone! It was an amazing adventure and the beginning of our awesome family. Now we live in Arizona with our two children. I miss the UK a little, not really the place so much, I just really miss my friends and family! I try to get back out there when I can to work, so I can see them, It’s never long enough though. You can’t ever really replace the people you grew up with, It’s important for me to keep those connections with home and remember where I came from as it made me who I am today. If I could move all my friends out here, Life would be even more amazing!

RMTV: What is your biggest achievement in your life thus far?

My life? It would be my kids, they totally changed everything for the better and I really do feel quite overwhelmed sometimes that it’s my responsibility to teach these little people everything they need to know. I pride myself on the fact they will grow up with open minds and hopefully follow they’re dreams to the max like myself and their father have. Career wise, my biggest achievement was being published on the cover of UK fetish magazine, Bizarre. I’d read it since i was a teenager and it was always one of my favorite publications, pretty much the only magazine i’d ever buy. So I honestly never dreamed I’d be on the cover! I’m hoping to work with them again this year and have been super proud to see some of my friends be featured recently too!

RMTV: How did you get started in the modeling racket?

When I left School I went to College to study Makeup Artistry, so I was already behind the scenes with photographers and honestly never dreamed of being in front of the camera as I was horribly un-photogenic, Then one evening while attending a local fetish club night in Birminghsm, UK I had my photo taken at the event booth by a local photographer called Richard, he loved my look and asked me to go to his studio for a proper shoot, I was apprehensive and my jealous boyfriend at the time threw up a stink about it so I didn’t go. Months later I plucked up the courage and had an such a great time shooting with Richard! I did a few shoots and got a couple of publications but things really hit it off when I moved to the US. There seems to be a much larger opportunity out here, there are some great artistic communities which I’ve been very lucky to be a part of, I adore collaborations with local artists and love that feeling when you get a group of minds together and create something really awesome! Something you will remember for the rest of your life.

RMTV:….Follow up question, what is Kandy K’s master plan? Singing, Acting, Performing?

Mater plan…other then taking over the world?!! haha Well I plan to continue modeling, I already have many shoots booked in the coming months, People think I’m mad as I only just had my daughter last month! But I like to be busy and have to create!
I don’t have any singing or acting talent sadly but I do love to host and be on stage, So I plan on hosting at more events, like The Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion in February and also the 1st Northern Arizona Tattoo Fest in Prescott this summer. So event promotors…Book me!

RMTV: Tell us something our fans need to know about you….

I’m Just a normal girl, I have a family, I spend a lot of time in my pj’s with baby puke on my shirt… Modeling and hosting is just another side to me. I like to inspire girls who want to model, anyone can do it, just follow your dreams and don’t listen to anyone who doesn’t support you.

RMTV: You have some great art work on you. Tell us about your first tattoo. We want all the gory details….and is it covered up these days?

I knew I wanted a tattoo pretty early, while visiting a tattoo studio in Birmingham called Modern Body Art with an older friend, I picked out a tattoo of a Punk Fairy from the flash on the wall, I was only 15 so my mom shot me down when I told her I wanted a tattoo! I waited till my 18th birthday and headed down to the tattoo studio, But i forgot my ID so got sent home with my tail between my legs! What an idiot! I returned a few days later and got the little punk fairy on my hip and later ended up getting a job as the receptionist and piercer at that same studio! I’m lucky they took me under their wing, I learnt a lot about tattoo’s and the industry and it helped me make good decisions towards future tattoo plans! The fairy is still on my hip, I’m proud of her and she reminds me of young, innocent Kandy.

RMTV: What excites you?

Days out with my family. Going to new towns and cities, i love to travel! Planning photo shoots and ticking off milestones in my modeling career!

RMTV: We first met you last year at the Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion, where you hosted the Pin Up Pageant, and looks like they must have liked you, because you are back again this year. Was last year the first time you worked with RR promoters, and how did you land such a fun gig?

I had worked the Tempe RR the previous year and had a blast! It’s really great to be a part of the Rockabilly Reunion family! It’s such a fun and relaxed event. It’s great to spend the weekend with like minded people and I get to do it with my family there too. The bands are awesome, the car clubs are so much fun and hosting the pinup pageant means I get to meet all these beautiful, brave and inspirational ladies. It takes a lot of courage to get up on stage and be judged like that, I was in their shoes a few years before at Rockabilly Reunion so I can definitely relate! But all in all it’s just a great, fun weekend in a beautiful place, Lake Havasu, where my husband actually grew up!

RMTV: When on stage, do you ever get stage fright or clam up?

When I’m nervous, I just talk a lot so it works out pretty well! Of course I get nervous, who wouldn’t, but life is an adventure and I like to challenge myself. I get an adrenaline rush when I’m on stage and find it all so exciting! I’ve always liked to be the center of attention and sadly I don’t have any singing or musical talent, so hosting is a great way to be on stage and support the things I love.

RMTV: In closing, this is your time to shamelessly promote, plug, or just give shout outs to your friends, family and fans….1-2-3- GO…..

You can follow my adventures through Facebook.com/kandyk, Instagram @kandyisbadass and when I remember too,

I update my website sometimes, kandyk.com.

For booking info email Kandyk@kandyk.com

I’ll be found at Rockabilly Reunion Feb 15th-17th so come down to the show and say Hi! Cheer on the pinups with me!
And come to the 1st Northern AZ Tattoo festival this summer!

Formed nearly 30 years ago, DoggyStyle was part of the OC punk rock scene and all this time later, not much has changed. Members have come and gone over the years, and today the band is still here, still cranking out their signature sound of good time punk rock n roll! It’s still has plenty of edge and a great sens of humor, which you comes thru on their latest album “PUNKERS ANTHEM” produced by their own Ed Caudill with help from Matt Borden. PUNKERS ANTHEM just makes you want to jump out of your seat and start dancing around and bouncing off the walls the entire time. Let’s hope a donut fight doesn’t break out in your living room tho, it has been known to happen when DoggyStyle music is played loud. We have first hand experience from our first encounter at Punk Rock Picnic a few years ago. The song “Super Punkers” kicks things off with strong riffs and catchy hooks. That sense of humor I was talking about comes out with their up beat tune “Beat Your Meat”, which we are strong supporters of, it just makes the world a better place when you do that very thing.

PUNKERS ANTHEM is a testament to the bands history and where they’re from and where they are going. They show no signs of slowing down playing gigs all over Southern California. Their influence can be heard in some of the new school punk bands that are springing up all over. Do yourselves a huge favor and make sure you stick this album in your collection, it’s sure to stand the test of time just as the band has. We look forward to more great things from those wild young men from DoggyStyle, and will continue to think of them every time we “…do it DoggyStyle! Do it DoggyStyle! DO IT DOGGYSTYLE!!!!!”

Last year the RMTV gang was invited to hit the road and cover shows and events around the country. One of those shows was the Muddy Roots Music Festival in Cookeville, Tennessee. I know what you’re thinking, “RMTV promotes itself as a punk rock n roll TV show!” Although you are correct, it doesn’t mean we’re closed off to other genres of music, especially when it has a deep and rich history in the evolution of the music we know and love. Blue grass, outlaw country, Americana, roots and blues are have all had their say in what would mold rock n roll and eventually punk.

On behalf of the entire RMTV cast and crew that made it out on this journey, we literally had a spiritual awakening. It was an experience unlike anything we had ever experienced. The sights, the sounds, the performers, the performances, the weather, the environment, it all may make me sound like a dirty hippie, but you just had to be there. Our cameras may not be able to do the event justice, but we certainly have tried our best to capture the magic, here’s a trailer we put together for the Muddy Roots promotional campaign for their upcoming festival. Enjoy.

Los Angeles based HENCHMEN, they aren’t psychobilly, they aren’t rockabilly, they aren’t punk….as frontman Eric Razo has told me on and off camera many times, HENCHMEN are straight up ROCK N ROLL! Rumor has it they are working on a new album, which we can’t wait to hear, however, something needs to be said about their last studio release “Trouble Surrounds You”. One thing about albums these days that we regularly have discussed on our podcast is the importance of Album Art. It’s has got to be good and grab your attention to make you want to take a peek at the content. This album art is definitely an attention getter. It features a photo of the stunning, international fetish model Miss Emily Marilyn, and if that’s the kind of trouble this album offers up, then we’re IN!

Eric, Steve and Nick are a power trio delivering thunderous beats, killer riffs and heavy rock n fucking roll from start to finish on this album. The opening riff of “Black Wings” just grabs you by the boo-boo and shakes you violently, leaving you begging for more. Each song gets heavier, sexier and better than the last. “Blown Away” is a fast paced sing along with great energy, just like their live shows. There’s some darkness on this album too, good darkness, Black Sabbath style darkness, like the title tracks “Trouble” and “Where they Go”. The list of influences goes on and on, it’s as if you threw Sabbath, Maiden, Meteors, Ramones, DAG, Elvis, Misfits and everything in between into a meat grinder and out came Henchmen rock sausage, thick and meaty. I think that makes sense. But I digress; these boys were able to capture their raw power, energy and sexiness into one this album for your enjoyment. If you don’t already have this in your collection, then you’re fucking up. Make sure you add this album to your iTunes, iPod, iShit, CD player, or however you kids are listening to music these days and catch the HENCHMEN live at a venue near you and keep supporting these bands that are creating original kick ass music for your listening pleasure. Eargasms guaranteed, so have some tissues handy.
As always, stay sexy and stay rock n roll!

September is when we officially kiss summer goodbye and start transitioning into fall, however, the weather might be cooling off, but this month’s Rebel Dame is Hot, Hot, Hotter than HELL! Folks, it’s our pleasure to introduce you to the ravishing…. MISS JULIE BOLENE

Originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico, Julie now calls Los Angeles home. We first spotted her at dive bar shows around Orange County and Los Angeles, she’s was actually kinda shy, but what caught our eye was her smile. Julie has a Gina Gershon meets Angeline Jolie lip-snear-smile thing happening, which is the best combination since peanut butter and jelly. Not to mention she’s a total babe! What made her extra cool, was that it was obvious that she was there for the music, whether it was a punk show, a rock n roll show or a country show. We spotted her everywhere and she was always polite and sweet. Not full of herself by any means, very much our time of gal.

Aside from music and modeling, Julie is has done some extra work on shows such as NCIS, and Sons of Anarchy, usually wearing very little, not that we’re complaining! A self proclaimed “thrift store junkie”, rules at arcade basketball and an avid bowler, you may have spotted her over the last 7 years competing at Punk Rock Bowling tournament in Las Vegas. She is creative and artistic, as she puts it “I love to build shit”, she grows her own vegetables and when she finds the time she paints. The latter has led her to her newest endeavor as an apprentice tattoo artist. Julie is a “Jill of all trades” and seems to show now signs of slowing down. This woman is a true Rebel Dame and we are proud to feature her and are proud to welcome her to the Rebel Music Family.

Q&A

RMTV: You’ve been modeling for sometime now, how did you get your start?

Julie: I used to have a pink 1964 caddy de ville. Someone left a note on it wanting to use it for a shoot. I asked for some photos of me and my car in exchange for my MySpace page. Then people on MySpace thought I modeled or something. Modeling is such a funny term for people who look like me. I’m 5 foot 6, about thirty pounds heavier than a runway model, and thirty years old. “Professional hot chick” is really the best term I’ve heard to describe us. It’s an industry based on internet popularity. Everyone wants to be the Instagram prom queen. I got my start how girls used to, on MySpace, doing pin up.

RMTV: Who are some of your favorite people to work with in the biz and why?

Julie: Travis Haight is my numero uno. He’s not only super duper rad but we come up with awesome shoot ideas and make bizarre photo magic. Also huge fans of Isaac Madera, Victor Rodriquez, No regrets photography, Peter Gonzalez, and Sheila Rosa as humans as well as artists.

RMTV: We caught a glimpse of you playing a stripper or adult film actress on one of our guilty pleasures, the show Sons of Anarchy, is there any other acting roles we may have seen you in? ..and do you get type cast as a stripper/porn-star?

Julie: My Son’s feature is the worst. I look straight at the camera while Jax is talking to his chick with me in between them. The scene was as bad as when Pee Wee Herman is cast in the movie about himself at the end of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Ugh. Anyway I used to work for a guy that supplied shows like that with biker or stripper types. I did NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles as well for him. I did few Indy films as a stripper; the only one I know the name of is ‘the Bloody Indulgent’. Recently I just did a role of a topless zombie for an art film, and a stripper in a feature film called “Afternoon Delight”.

RMTV: You act, you model, and we recently noticed you took up tattooing. Is that something you’ve wanted to do or just fell into?

Julie: I wouldn’t say I exactly “act”, more like ‘classy’ chick on camera for money. I went to art school; I have been an artist all my life. I always wanted to tattoo but it’s a pretty intimidating industry, and I was super intimidated. The “model turned tattooist” is almost always just a hot chick who can’t tattoo her way out of a paper bag but people still get tattooed by her cause of her tits. Basically I turned 29 and knew I needed a career and the fear of regret was stronger than the fear of finding an apprenticeship. After doing assignment after assignment the great Kevin Quinn agreed to take me on last year. I have forever indebted to him and grateful for the life he has given me. I am in love with tattooing; I believe it is something I have potential to be great at in spite of the fact that people used to take photos of me in my underwear. People will always talk shit no matter how good I am but when I pull a long ass clean line or see my design on someone’s skin I don’t really care what people say and will always say about me tattooing.

RMTV: With the rise of tattoo competitions, TV shows and what not, do you feel they help or hurt the tattoo world?

Julie: They all fucking suck. All of them. I had big hopes for Oliver’s show ‘the tattoo wizard’ or whatever the fuck, but it sucks too. I don’t hate anyone for doing the shows, but the shows are soo painful. I wish the shows showed more tattooing and less scripted drama about how fucking fascinating peoples tattoo ideas are or who is fucking who in the shop. Don’t care. I’ve never been able to watch a whole episode of any of them without feeling sick. And that includes Hart and Huntington which aired when I only had a couple of tattoos. I also really hate what the shows have done for tattoo culture. I hate that people are no longer intimidated by a tattoo shop. I hate all the crappy shops that spring up everywhere now. I hate that people who don’t tattoo think it’s OK to draw tattoo flash. I hate that there are people out there who will tattoo a kid’s neck or hands when the kid doesn’t have sleeves. I hate that clients think its ok to get neck and hand tattoos when they don’t have sleeves. I hate how disrespectful clients now think they can be to their artist. I hate that tattoos don’t scare people anymore. I have eighty year old women pulling up their sleeves to show me their brand new tattoo. I hate that people can order machines on ebay. I hate that people who can’t get an apprenticeship think its ok to order a machine on ebay and just go for it. I hate that clients want to be tattooed more than collect art on their skin, and will therefore get shit tattooed all over them just to be tattooed. I hate that everyone’s a fucking expert on tattooing because they have a cable box. Yeah I’d say they hurt the tattoo world and apparently my feelings! hahaha.

RMTV: Who inspires you to be creative?

Julie: Kevin Quinn, Mike Giant, Ed hardy (everyone who had tattoos should watch his documentary on netflix ‘tattoo the world’), Freddy Corbin, Lindsey Carmichael, Virginia Elwood, Bert Krak, Steve Boltz, Xam the Spaniard, Deno, Angelique Houtkamp, Tim Mcalary, Tim Hendricks, Jen Davis, Josh Davis, Chris Breska, Karen Costleigh, Will Card, Grant Cobb, Eli Falconette, Adrian Sanchez, and a crapload of other amazing living tattooists.

RMTV: We are a music and culture channel and were wondering about your musical tastes, which bands you just geek out on big time?

Julie: The Dwarves, The Briefs, Neko Case, The Deadweather, White Buffalo, Lucinda Williams, Genitorturers, Rob Zombie, the Duke Spirit, Tom Waits, The Clash, Atmosphere, and Dolly Parton.

RMTV: Tell us about a live show or band that just blew you away this year. 1-2-3 GO!

Julie: White Buffalo. If you don’t know, now you know.

RMTV: Tattoos on a woman, less is more, or body suit status and why?

Julie: I think chest pieces should be more thought out. Don’t get crap right above your tits ladies. Other than that I don’t really care.

RMTV: Last time we caught up with you was at the Punk Rock Bowling Tournament. Are you an avid bowler? Tell us about it….

Julie: I really like to bowl. Not that good or that bad. I’m super enthusiastic about it though! Seven years of Punk Rock Bowling in a row!

RMTV: It has been a pleasure to get the chance to feature you. Here’s your chance to throw out the most shameless of plugs or shout outs. Anything goes…

Julie: My Boyfriend is the greatest man alive, thank you James Claeys, I love you. Thank you Kevin Quinn for my life, and for teaching me the black arts. Thank you to my parents for loving me though my poorly thought out life choices.
